Rabies was first recorded over 4000 years ago and is still a significant public health risk to around 75% of the world’s population in close to 150 countries around the world, especially in Africa, Asia and Latin America.


There is one currently accepted treatment, the Milwaukee Protocol. It increases survival of late stage Rabies from practically 0 to about 25 percent of recipients. The problem is the difficulty and expense involved. The protocol requires the patient to be placed into a chenically induced comatose state and cost clost to 1 million US dollars for each case.

This is financially unrealistic for people in most third world countries.
